On March 29, 2020 Kunstraum held an online panel “Eastern European Art & the Age of Extremity,” moderated by me, 2019-2020 Curator-in-Residence at Kunstraum and part of programming for my ongoing exhibition “New York Meets Tbilisi: Defining Otherness Part 2.” The panel focused on art produced in Eastern Europe and the various dynamics associated with presenting intellectually stimulating art from this underrepresented part of the world. Topics lead to what we can learn from this time of uncertainty and apply to the future’s collective consciousness and conclusions. Panelists included writer, translator, and curator Adele Eisenstein, art historian and curator Monika Fabijanska, media and performance artist as well as Kunstraum CEO Nadja Verena Marcin, conceptual artist Mladen Miljanovic, curator Vladislav Sludskiy, and artist and author Zsuzsanna Szegedi-Varga.
